- What are the unique features of Cog?
The main feature of Cog is isolated lending, so you have exposure to what collateral types you want. This gives lenders lots of control when it comes to managing to risk.
2. How does Cog plan top address challenges attracting liquidity and keeping liquidity?
Our main focus right now is looking at pair types users want, and once we find the right pairs, borrowers with liquidity should come.
3. What security measures does Cog implement and how do they compare to other defi lending solutions on Scroll?
Cog has a robust security approach, we use several monitoring systems in addition to a constant risk monitoring approach. Mainly around pool utilization, liquidation, and TvL monitoring.
4. Can you explain how you view rollup interoperability within the Ethereum ecosystem?
I have a lot of thoughts on this one, but it is very difficult to do without shared sequencing, and it becomes hard to do without sharing security. I think async is definitely the future.
5. What are the key advantages of Cog over other lending protocols on Scroll (Aave for example)?
We are Scroll native, and plan to offer exposure to Scroll first assets quicker than other protocols. We are also isolated, so can choose which assets you are exposed to.
6. How do you plan to ensure a seamless user experience for interacting with Cog? 1 click WETH deposit was something I enjoyed.
We focus on making our dapp to fun to use, beyond just being simple. It is really easy to build brand identity and community through the dapp, and so its something we try to do.
7. How do you feel about the current state of cryptocurrency solutions, and are they fulfilling their original promises of decentralized and open finance?
I think the industry has made a lot of progress, but it still has long way to go move beyond speculation.
8. What motivates you to work on Ethereum based dapp every day?
I’ve always loved the mission behind it, and I think Ethereum still offers the best user experience on Layer 2s. Ethereum is also still the home for most liquidity, so Ethereum provides us a place to have the best impact.
9. Do you have any advice for young builders in the defi space?
Ship something, you’ll learn far more than you expect. There are no positions for junior smart contract engineers, and so you must prove yourself by shipping something before you get out there.
10. Do you think Defi has staying power on the various Ethereum layer 2’s versus the Ethereum blockchain?
I think Layer 2s still have a lot of issues to overcome for UX and fragmentation, but the overall lower fees and specific communities will yield better dapps than mainnet could ever provide.
11. Do you think Defi can act as a long-term catalyst to change power dynamics with the US and the rest of the world?
Hard to say, its a big task and most dapps hide behind geofences. I think probably not, but as a whole I think DeFi provides a base use case for the things that will (such as on chain privacy).
