Been a busy two weeks — had to step away from reviews but we are back at it!
Hi, and welcome to issue 15 of NFT Matrix, where I review NFT Artists’ work. There is no presumption or judgement here, only exposure. The artist I am reviewing is Rui Zilhão. Multi-dimensional is how I would characterize their work. I look at a couple of the artist’s pieces from their various platforms/social media and provide my review. Hope you enjoy, I’m always open to feedback
Piece: “Equilibrium”
Ruiz has exquisite drawing capability. This piece illustrated his attention to detail and fine lines. It is one of many in his portfolio which demonstrate his skill. I like this piece in particular because it reminds me of human struggle and human interconnectedness. I highly recommend perusing his website to get an understanding of the scope of his drawing skills.
Piece: “Kitty Time from series ‘Animal Evolution’ ”
This piece reminds me of the question “What would happen if other animals evolved besides humans?”. Maybe there is a universe where cats became the dominant mammal species. That this was created completely digitally speaks to the skill of the artist. The cat is creepily realistic and striking.
Piece: “FACES. Face 7”
There is a human tendency called ‘Face pareidolia’ where our brains make us see faces where they do not exist. I love this work because Ruiz plays on this tendency and creates a face out of everyday objects and scenes (appears to be a wall). A gentle reminder that this reality has rules which moderate how we experience it.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this brief introduction to Ruiz! Find their links here.
See you next week!
