Hi, and welcome to issue 17 of NFT Matrix, where I review NFT Artists’ work. There is no presumption or judgement here, only exposure. The artist I am reviewing is Jennifer Stelco. Colorful and engaging is how I would characterize their work. I look at a couple of the artist’s pieces from their various platforms/social media and provide my review. Hope you enjoy, I’m always open to feedback.

Piece: “Ellen de Roosevelt”

Link

Please view the piece at the Link! It’s a multimedia piece which is both a humorous and interesting take on how we characterize public figures. This is a mash-up of several public figures throughout American history, and encourages one to ponder what’s the difference between the truth of a public figure, and how are they are remembered and memorialized.

Piece: “Prettier When you Smile”

Link

Must see at the link! This is a fantastic satirical piece which bites back at those who feel they can comment on a woman’s looks or emotional state without being invited in. American society is generally loud and opinionated (whether prompted or not), and sometimes its nice to step back and thing about how we enjoy engaging with each other. Of course, other societies have different norms (with some of the cat-calling being worse in other cultures).

Piece: “Born”

Link

This is an animated piece where layers of paint are added to a face. There is the simple idea of showing how complex digital art can be with its many layers. I like that this piece could be an analogy for the ways which we apply different layers to ourselves over time, and perhaps take away other layers depending on time and identity.

Well, I hope you enjoyed this brief introduction to the artist! Find their links here.

See you next week!
